The Exchange District is one neighborhood you’ll want to
choose to spend time at. With over 20 blocks of Victorian and
Edwardian architecture, the Exchange District was the home to
stock and commodity exchanges from the 1880s until the late 1920s.
Most of the buildings are now restaurants, clubs, pubs, shops
and small businesses.
The corner of King Street and Bannantyne Avenue is a hub of activity
for the area. Old Market Square, on this corner, is a good source
for interesting events such as live music, flea markets, and other
street entertainment.
Opposite Old Market Square is Artspace, a huge centre for art,
film and theatre groups. Visitors can wander through the studios
and galleries. The Cinémathèque shows Canadian and
International independent films.
