ou will be traveling near the geographic center of North America
when you visit Winnipeg, Manitoba! Winnipeg, the 8th largest city
in Canada and Manitoba’s largest city, is located in the
southern part of Manitoba. This world-class city is renowned for
its variety of entertainment, diverse population and high standard
of living. You’ll find a mix of sophistication and friendliness
when you visit.
Winnipeg offers an abundance of recreational opportunities as
it lies in close proximity to hundreds of lakes including Lake
Winnipeg, the world's 11th largest lake, Lake Manitoba, and Lake
of the Woods. Winnipeg hosted the Pan-American Games in 1967 and
again in 1999, the only city besides Mexico City to have hosted
the event twice.
Sports fans are happy in Winnipeg, with access to the Blue Bombers
football team and the Manitoba Moose hockey team.
Winnipeg is one of Canada’s most culturally vibrant urban
centers, yet it sometimes receives an unfair reputation because
of the notoriously long, cold Manitoban winters. While in Winnipeg,
explore the city, starting with breakfast in the French Quarter,
followed by a walking tour of The Forks with lunch at a place
where furs were traded hundreds of years ago. You’ll be
able to experience world-renowned ballet as this city is home
to the world-famous Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Spend an evening watching
the world go by on a street lined with cafes.
This city is a mix of everything good. Winnipeg boasts:
- Historic architecture
- Scenic waterways
- Several attractive bridges
Take a relaxing cruise on the Assiniboine and Red rivers, take
in an outdoor theater production, or go inside the wonderful Centennial
Centre to watch the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
