Wake up weekday mornings with The Master of the Morning Don Percy. Don has spent over 50 years on the air and is one of Winnipeg's most recognized personalities. Every weekday from 3 to 6, it's the Raccoon in the Afternoon Show! "Where we say and do stupid things...so you don't have to"! (Consider it a public service.) Rac' brings his infectious sense of humor to the airwaves with “What’s Up in Hollywood?”, “Who put the Stupid in Stupidity?”, “Survey Says” and much more. Raccoon is joined by Robin Michaels for News, Sports and Weather and Sabrina is our "Eye in the Sky" with Traffic. So tune in and tell your friends that you drive home with a Raccoon! (They'll likely suggest it's time to adjust your medications.)
The station first went on the air as CJQM, at 1470 kHz, on November 1, 1963. The callsign changed to CFRW in 1969. Purchased by CHUM in 1974, the station's frequency changed in the mid-1970s to the more accessible 1290 kHz, although the station branded itself as "13 CFRW". CFRW played a contemporary music format until 1987, when it switched to soft rock, with a callsign and branding change to CIFX ("1290 Fox"). The station changed formats several more times, including to talk radio in 1995, pop standards in 1999 and sports (as part of CHUM's now-defunct "The Team" network) in 2001. The CFRW callsign and oldies format returned in August 2002. CFRW airs all games of the Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team. For several years in the early 1980s it broadcast Winnipeg Blue Bombers football, with play-by-play voice Ron Oakes and Rob Glazier. In 2007 CFRW along with the other CHUM stations were sold to CTVglobemedia.
